JOIN US TODAY AND MAKE YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE COMMUNITY! We thank you for the support, participation and continued interest in our programmes. TRC has 30 Affiliate Organisations and has forged close working relationship with SINDA, People’s Association Narpani Pearavai, Tamil Language Council, Tamil Language Cultural Society, LISHA, Singapore Tamil Teachers Union, Tamil Murasu and a host of other organisations. Our Tuition programme has over the years benefited some 35,000 students. More than 1,500 students and families have benefited through our bursary awards and study awards with MDIS. Last 2 years more than 2,500 people have joined together to celebrate ‘Thamizhar Thirunaal’ which is a celebration of the 3 major festivals (Deepavali, Hari Raya Puasa & Christmas). This showcases our unity as one language, regardless of race or religion TRC has also been supporting events like Ponggal Celebrations and Deepavali Light-up at Little India. TRC has been giving our bursaries to students from low-income families and presenting Excellence Awards to those Tamil students who excel in their examinations. To date more than 500 students have benefited from our bursaries receiving more than $60,000.00. The Excellence Award has been presented to 30 students, who have received more than $7,000.00. We are now in the process of acquiring an office premise or a building which our Community can relate to and consider as belonging to the Tamil speaking Community. All these and more will not have been possible without your support. We thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve the Community. However TRC wants to do more for the Tamil Community. Excelling in Education is one key aspect of ensuring that our children are better-off and successful in the future. TRC has plans to organise enrichment programmes and provide financial assistance to more children. To do all these and more, TRC needs more than $50,000.00 annually. TRC has been fortunate in getting well-wishers and Corporate Organisations to donate towards its programmes. To continue with our community efforts, it is important that we have funds and that the Community has a stake in raising these funds. And one avenue is through our GIRO subscription. This will be a monthly contribution of a minimum of $5.00. From this $2.00 will go towards your membership fees and $1.00 each to our Building, Education and Cultural Funds. These funds have been setup to provide for our activities and to realize our dream of a building for the Tamil Community. This will also ensure that you do not default in your annual subscriptions and at the same time allow you to contribute to our community efforts. Members who convert their ordinary membership to GIRO membership and new GIRO members are eligible to enter our special GIRO DRAW 2008. Prizes range from air tickets to India and Bangkok and NTUC Vouchers. Hurry! This offer is only until October 2008. Members will also be entitled to discounts at leading retailers in Little India, like Jothi Stores and Gayatri Restaurant. |
