தமிழ் மொழி
விழாவின் ஒரு அங்கமாக, 'தமிழோடு வளர்வோம்' என்னும்
கருத்தரங்குக்கு ஏற்பாடு செய்திருந்தது.
சிங்கப்பூர் தமிழ் ஆசிரியர் சங்கமும், நியூ டவுன்
தொடக்கப்பள்ளியும் இதற்கு கூட்டு ஆதரவு அளித்தன. சனிக்கிழமை,
19 ஏப்ரல் 2008 அன்று ஸ்டெர்லிங் சாலையில்
அமைந்துள்ள எம்.டி.ஐ.எஸ் வளாகத்தில் நடைபெற்ற
இக்கருத்தரங்கத்திற்கு,
தொழில் மற்றும் வர்த்தகத் துறையின் மூத்த துணை அமைச்சர் திரு எஸ்
ஈஸ்வரன் அவர்கள் சிற்ப்பு விருந்தினராக வருகை தந்தார்.
மாணவர்களிடையே மொழித் திறனை
வளர்க்கவும் அவர்களை தமிழில் பேச ஊக்குவிக்கவும் இக் கருதரங்கு
ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டிருந்தது.
600க்கு மேற்பட்ட மாணவர்களும் சுமார்
200 ஆசிரியர்கள் மற்றும் பெற்றோர்கள் இதில் கலந்துக் கொண்டனர்.
டாக்டர் சந்துரு அவர்களும் திரு வடிவழகன் அவர்களும் சிறப்புரை
ஆற்றினர். கேள்வி-பதில் அங்கத்தின் போது, கேளிவிகள் கேட்க அலைமோதிய
மாணவர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை இன்னும் நினைவில் நிற்கிறது.
கருத்தரங்கின் வழி மொழியின்
முக்கியத்துவத்தை வலியுறுத்துவதோடு, சமூகத்தலைவர்கள் மாணவர்களுடன்
தங்கள் அனுபவத்தைப் பகிர்ந்து கொள்ளவும் ஒரு வாய்ப்பாக அமைந்தது.

In conjunction with this year’s Tamil Language Festival TRC
together with Singapore Tamil Teachers Union (STTU) and New Town
Primary School organised a forum “Progress with Tamil” to create
awareness in Tamil pupils on the importance of developing Tamil
language skills. It was held on 19 April 2008 at MDIS Unicampus.
Mr S Iswaran, Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry
was the Guest of Honour.
More than 600 students from Upper Primary and Lower Secondary
levels participated in the event. About 200 Teachers & Parents
were also present. Guest Speakers were Dr T Chandroo and Mr
Vadivazhagan. Highlight of the event was the number of students
clamouring to ask questions and willing to speak in Tami.
The forum aims to emphasize the importance of spoken Tamil and
explore ways to encourage and increase the usage of the
language. The forum also served as a stage for our Community
leaders to encourage the use of the language as a fun and modern
language and that our students or youths should not shy away or
be afraid in using the language.
