Sri Guru Ragavendra Society Fund
Raising Dinner
Sri Guru Ragavendra Society (SGRSS), an affiliate of TRC, held its first fund
raising dinner on October 12 at Singapore Futsing Assocation. SGRSS, formed in
2004, spreads the message of the Saint Guru Ragavendra. It holds Bhajans every
Thursdays at 7.30pm at the vacant space next to Perumal Temple. About 70-100
devotees attend this Bhajans every Thursdays. Besides the Bhajans, SGRSS also
does yearly trips to Mantralayam the place where the Guru reach eternity.
Aradhanai is another event which is celebrated by the Society. Aradhanai is
celebrated over a 3-day period and it normally takes in August. Prayers, Bhajans,
Carrying of Milk Pots and cultural programmes are held during the Aradhanai
period.
Sirpigal - Sculptors of Arts did the programme management for their fund raising
event. They lined up an entertaining programme with excellent performances by
dancers , singers and "Sivaji". A delicious spread of buffet both vegetarian and
non-vegetarian appeased the hungry crowd of 500. SGRSS also brought 40 residents
from Bukit Batok Home for the Aged to join in the event.
Mr Rajkumar, President, SGRSS, in his speech said the SGRSS has attracted not
only Indians but also a number of Chinese devotees. He said that SGRSS is
growing steadily and hopes to have its own permanent premises to conduct their
prayers and bhajans.
SGRSS is grateful to all those who attended and donated to r the success of the
event. SGRSS is to thankful to T amils Representative Council, Hindu Endowment
Board, TRC Multi-Purpose Co-operative , Potong Pasir Temple, Sengkang Temple,
Jothi Stores, Komala Vilas, Abirami Jewellers and Hindu Centre.
